Community Business Scotland - aims to promote, encourage and support the principles and practice of community owned and controlled enterprises, enabling local communities to become more self reliant and sustainable. DTA Scotland - the national body for development trusts in Scotland. Evaluation Support Scotland - works with voluntary organisations so they can measure the impact of their work. They provide practical support and access to resources and tools. HIE Moray - local enterprise company, part of Highlands and Islands. The HIE website has a number of very useful resources including information to help existing businesses improve and develop. There are some useful material for new starts in here too. HISEZ - Highlands and Islands Social Enterprise Zone aims to support the growth of a dynamic and sustainable social enterprise sector. Public Tender - provide information on tendering to the public sector to companies in the United Kingdom. REAP - Sustainable development charity based in Keith, Moray. Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations - This link has details of the courses which SCVO runs. SCVO is a major organiser of training courses for the Voluntary Sector in Scotland whose courses cover a broad range of topics from IT to organisational governance, from personal development to capacity building. Scotland unLtd - invests both finance and development support in individuals and entrepreneurial solutions to social problems Senscot - a national networking organisation which aims to develop the social enterprise sector. Social Audit Network - lists the approved social auditors, resident and practising in the UK. SAN also has over 1,400 people subscribed to receive the free monthly SAN circular and may use the email Network and the circular to share information and make contact with other practitioners. Social Enterprise Academy - an ILM accredited institution which aims to deliver programmes for the social economy and community regeneration sector. Social Enterprise Coalition - the UK body for social enterprise aims to support members, influence policy and promote best practice. Social Firms Scotland - aims to grow the social firm sector in Scotland in order to increase employment opportunities for severely disadvantaged people. SROI UK - the UK network for Social Return on Investment. Supplier Development Programme - established to offer small businesses the opportunity to grow and diversify through procurement of contracts from both public and private sectors. Now available free of charge to all trading third sector organisations and social enterprises across Scotland. To take advantage of this service, all you have to do is register online.
Other Social Enterprise Networks in Scotland include Aberdeen, Argyll and Bute, East Lothian and Edinburgh. The Local Social Enterprise Networks come together to exchange information and best practice. A blue print document of how this will function was prepared in September 2008. |
