Initiatives North East was
formed to improve health and well being, contribute to community
regeneration and improve employability with the vulnerable,
disadvantaged and excluded individuals, families and communities.
The main activities are through increasing the consumption of
fruit and veg and the recruitment, training and support of volunteers. |

learning programmes for community groups and organisations. |
| Down to Earth
is an Industrial
and Provident society which is a registered Self Build Housing
Association. They aim to produce three self-built sustainable,
affordable, low impact houses constructed using a high percentage of
reclaimed and recycled materials and which can be used as a template for
future developments. |
| Earthshare is a
community supported agriculture scheme
based near Forres. They grow soft fruit and vegetables by organic
methods for up to 200 local families. |
| Ekopia
is a
co-operative which is an IPS and a Community Benefit Society regulated
via the Financial Services Authority in which there can only be a
”reasonable return to members”. Members of the co-op buy shares which
are used to invest as patient capital in ethical businesses and social
enterprises. There is currently over half a million pounds in
investment. |
| Elgin City FC
Community Development is separately constituted from the club
and is about providing community participation in sport. |
| Elgin Youth
Development Group
is a cutting edge youth project for young people aged 11-18, which
comprises the Elgin Youth Cafe, our highly popular dance group, the All
Stars, and our community-based initiative, Delta Force. The Elgin
Youth Cafe
is a
meeting place for 12-18 year olds which operates 5-6 nights per week and
on a Saturday afternoon. Sessions are also delivered for young
people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and young
carers. |

Findhorn Village Centre is a
charitable company limited by guarantee. Its main activities are
operating a community resource centre, a visitor centre and a hostel.
They sub let space to Wild Things, an environmental organisation and are
home to the Moray Gig Sail Training Boat. |

Forres Area Credit Union
is a
community credit union serving people living and working in Forres and
the surrounding area. Forres CU operates as a co-operative and is
registered as an industrial and provident society and is wholly owned by
its members. |

Groups Action is a group of community organisations working
together in Forres for mutual support and to assist other
voluntary/community groups for the benefit of the wider community.

Green Home
is a
social enterprise whose core activities are running a service to collect
unwanted items of furniture and electrical goods to fix and redistribute
to people on a low income. Have recently developed a mattress
recycling strand. |

Keith Dufftown
Railway Association
is a charitable
company limited by guarantee which owns buildings, track and rolling
stock and who operate as a visitor attraction and rail transport link
between Dufftown, Drummuir and Keith. |

Knockando Woolmill
Trust are in the
midst of securing funding for the Restoration of Knockando Woolmill (as
featured on BBC’s Restoration TV programme). They will operate a
commercial weaving business from the renovated building thus passing on
traditional skills and creating new markets for these products. They
will also be developing a Visitor and
Education
centre. |
| Let’s Picnic is
a new café/caterer in Forres which aims to offer simple and nourishing
seasonal local organic food, both on-site and through outside catering.

Lhanbryde Community
Challenge
is an unincorporated
charity which manages the Community Hall and who provide training and
general community development support within Lhanbryde. Their latest
venture is a community café facility. |
| Loft Youth Project / Loft Trading
- Loft Trading is
wholly owned
trading subsidiary of The Loft Youth Project which operates Craighursts
a café/restaurant which aims to provide work and training opportunities
for young people and a ‘Cook School’ which is currently being developed.
Any future profits will be donated back to the Loft Youth Project which
itself earns income through hall rentals and service level agreements /
contracts with Public Bodies and organisations such as Project Scotland. |

Moray Arts
Centre
is a new artists venue located within the Findhorn foundation offering
artists studio space as well as offering wider access and educational
programmes. |
| Moray Gig is a
sail training organisation
providing activities for young people and adults with a focus on
disadvantaged people. |
| Moray Textile Centre
is a charitable
limited company which is a training
provider in traditional textile skills. The original focus was as a kilt
school but the remit has been broadened out now to include a variety of
textile skills with a range of training products on offer. |

Organisation -
Council for Voluntary Service based in
Moray. |
| Moray Waste Busters
provides an
innovative combination of practical activities and educational
facilities aimed at increasing levels of participation and awareness of
waste and recycling issues throughout Moray households and schools. |

for a While Brings live
music to people who have no opportunity to experience it. |

is a community based
holistic education centre, exploring ways to live sustainably. It
provides workshop space, retreat space and therapy space and also runs a
B&B. |

based in Aberdeen but with a membership drawn from Aberdeen,
Aberdeenshire and Moray. Set up under Industrial and Provident society
status, operating as a co-operative organisation owned by its members. |
| Out of Darkness Theatre Company
Ltd
is a professional theatre
company located in Elgin, Scotland who perform and tour regularly
through Moray, and the Highlands of Islands of Scotland.

works with young people in Moray to actively develop their potential
through outdoor learning and adventure. |

works
with local groups and agencies to encourage social enterprise, promote
sustainable development and raise environmental awareness. |
| Reboot
is a charitable company
limited by guarantee which recycles and resells computer equipment. Most
of the reconditioned computers are sold to community and charitable
organisations and individuals who are disadvantaged in some way. They
also recycle mobile phones and ink cartridges. |

Shambala
Retreat Although primarily a charitable Buddhist retreat,
Shambala also have really good quality spaces that they let out for
training/meeting space. Light, airy, tranquil but with wi-fi,
projector, etc and a beautiful outlook. |

Speak up! Sing Out!
is developing a new social enterprise to run workshops to encourage
public singing as a way of confidence building. |

Spirit of
Speyside Whiskey Festival aims to bring economic benefit to
Moray and especially Speyside and to promote the contribution of the
whisky Industry and its heritage to the economy of Moray. |

a wood recycling and building material reclamation social enterprise
based in Elgin. |

offers a tea room, crafts and curiosities produced by local
artisans and a meeting venue in a beautiful, historic setting adjacent
to a working smallholding near Keith. |

Ltd are aiming to lower the carbon footprint of Forres catchment
area. |

is a newly formed social enterprise delivering quality and affordable
wrap around childcare in Moray. They aim to develop as a recognised
centre of excellence in terms of staff training and development. |

is an
innovative social enterprise providing excellent work experience and
training opportunities for people with learning disabilities by
recycling all the cans collected by The Moray Council and Waste
Watchers’ own van collection service to businesses throughout Moray. |
